Design Challenge

FPS (First person shooter) style video games are the second highest grossing video game genre in the world. The VR gaming industry has made great leaps to improve its technology and software capabilities & improving the user experience; however, design has struggled to meet user’s needs…until now.

I designed a product that focused on the user’s needs while prioritizing aesthetic, functionality, and performance.

Understanding The User

  • 21-35 y/o make over 50% of the FPS gaming market

  • 38% of gamers worldwide are between the ages of 18-35

My target consumer is a 20-30 year old male. Possible gun owner. Average annual salary of 80k.

After my first round of sketching I revisited my mood board and decided to soften the design language of the previous forms. 

I wanted the design to feel cohesive with the visual aesthetic of the Oculus controllers.
